WELCOME TO LENT 2026

Lent originated in the early centuries of church history as a time of preparation for Easter. It begins on Ash Wednesday & lasts until Holy Saturday, the Saturday before Easter. The last week of Lent is called Holy Week, which includes both Maundy Thursday (commemorating the institution of the Lord's Supper) & Good Friday (commemorating the crucifixion of our Lord).

Reminiscent of Israel's forty years in the wilderness & Jesus' forty days of fasting in the wilderness, the Lenten season, not counting Sundays, lasts forty days. Sundays are not included because the Lord's Day, according to church tradition, is never a fast day but always a feast day, a celebration of the resurrection.  We hope you’ll join us in diving into this powerful season.

LENTEN SERMON SERIES

We are excited for our brand new Lenten Sermon Series entitled "INTO THE WOODS" Each week we will explore different stories from the scriptures that teach us about the kind of transformation that occurs in the midst of a wilderness experience. Some of the people we will look at include Hagar, Elijah, Moses, Israel, John the Baptist, & Jesus. During it we will be looking at various lenten themes that come up within these stories as well. Themes like, hearing God's voice, hunger, fear, isolation, calling, silence, trust, waiting, rest, & more.  We hope you'll invite your friends & plan to join us for what is sure to be some transformative times in the scriptures!

JOIN THE CITY WIDE - 40 DAYS OF PRAYER INITIATIVE

40 Days of Prayer is a city wide movement of churches, individuals, & organizations, seeking God together on behalf of Seattle during the season of Lent, the 40 days leading up to Easter. This year we will be journeying together on an urban pilgrimage of prayer throughout our city, across 6 different prayer rooms, & praying as one Church through 6 different themes. Lent is traditionally a time of prayer & fasting as Christian’s look to the living hope found in the resurrection of Jesus Christ. You're invited to join with the church community of Seattle to pray for Jesus to be exalted, the local church to be united, our city to be transformed, & individuals to have a life-changing encounter with Christ.
