Abraham sends a servant to his homeland to find a wife for his son Isaac. Once the servant arrives, he waits for a woman to offer him and his camels water: a sign that she is the woman God wants Isaac to marry. When Rebekah does this, the servant asks Rebekah who she is. Rebekah turns out to be related to Abraham. This is important because it emphasizes God’s covenant promise to Abraham that he would have many descendants. After the servant asks Rebekah’s family for her hand, he and Rebekah return to Isaac.
